Online gaming is absolutely massive and has grown in popularity over the past two decades. Whether you’re an old school gamer with a fondness for Wild West games like Gun and Red Dead Redemption or a zoomer gamer that plays Fortnite and FIFA nonstop, we’re sure that this list will contain something for you. Did we miss anything? Let us know!
GTA 5 Online
The open-world smash hit by Rockstar is still one of the most popular games in the world despite reaching its twilight years. While the story mode was the initial pull of the game, what has allowed the game to continue thriving is the online aspect. Here players can team up with friends to race their latest cars, plan and complete complicated heists, and battle against rival gangs in the city of Los Santos. It’s absolutely huge.
Arma 3
Arma 3 is an online game that enjoys an absolutely massive following from a very loyal fanbase. This game differs from your average battle game because a much bigger emphasis is placed on tactics and out-maneuvering your opponent. Arguably the father of the battle royale games that have exploded in popularity in the past few years, Arma 3 is definitely worth checking out, even if it is a tad buggy and filled with seasoned veterans.
Rainbow 6 Siege
Kinda similar to the hugely popular CS: GO; this game is huge on teamwork and looking for incremental gains whenever possible. What is strange and great is that it can be just as rewarding to be a team player who does the grunt work as it is to be the star player who gets all the kills. That aside, this game is super fun, and we’re sure you’ll love smashing up the map and causing complete destruction. Give it a try – the game is excellent!
Rocket League
Who doesn’t love cars? Who doesn’t love soccer? This game puts both of those things together to create the ultimate online game that sees players face off against each other as they try to score goals with their cars. It’s super fun, thanks to the boosts, jumps, and the ability to drive on the arena’s walls and ceiling. If it’s destruction you’re after, then this is the game for you, with smashing into your opponent encouraged as a tactic to win.
Overwatch
Despite being an online shooter that is one of many, Overwatch is a little different because of how interactive it is and how it incorporates plenty of curveballs into the gameplay. The game isn’t new by any means but still has a massive following because it has been able to stay ahead of the curve and evolve in line with the gamer’s needs. In a decade or so, there’s a chance that this game will be seen as one of the best multiplayer games ever.
League of Legends
League of Legends was released in 2009 and still has an absolutely huge following worldwide. League of Legends is a 5v5 online battle arena game. Two teams of players, called “summoners,” compete against each other on a map with the objective of destroying the enemy team’s base, or “nexus.” Players achieve this by controlling objectives on the vast map, fighting against enemy players, and getting more points than their opponents. Check out this League of Legends Guide to help you get better at the game.
Destiny 2
Destiny 2 is a much-needed improvement over the original game, with a more engaging campaign, improved cooperative multiplayer, and a much-needed overhaul of the Crucible PvP mode. While some issues still need to be addressed, Destiny 2 is a much more enjoyable game than the original. There are plenty of modes to choose from, each with its own unique quirks and strategies. It’s a great game that blends offline and online play.
Halo Infinite
Halo Infinite features some tremendous multiplayer modes that will keep players busy for hours on end. There are plenty of maps and weapons to choose from, and I never got bored of playing online with friends. Halo Infinite is an excellent game that lives up to the hype surrounding it. It features tight gameplay, an engaging story, and some awesome multiplayer modes. If you’re a fan of first-person shooters or action games in general, then you need to play this game.
World of Tanks
We’re sure you’ll love playing World of Tanks. It’s a fun, fast-paced game that is easy to learn but difficult to master. It’s an online-only multiplayer game that pits teams of players against each other in a variety of WWII-era tanks. The game is free to play, and it’s easy to get into a match and start battling. The graphics are good, and the tanks are realistic. The only downside is that there is no campaign mode, so that the game can get a little repetitive.
FIFA 22
This year’s game features new motion-capture technology that allows players to move more like their real-life counterparts. The game also includes new animations and a revamped dribbling system that gives players more control over the ball. Ultimate Team is the online mode of FIFA. You create a team of players and compete against other teams in online matches. You can also trade players with other people to create the best possible team.
