You can apply online for the post of LIC Assistant after the official announcement. The specific time period of application is given on the website of LIC. If you belong to general/OBC, you have to pay an application fee of INR510 plus GST and transaction charges. For candidates of SC/ST/PWD, the application fee is restricted to INR 85plus GST and transaction charges. A bachelor`s degree in any stream from a standard university is mandatory for an aspiring candidate. The age limit is between eighteen to thirty years, with specific relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, ECO/SSCO and LIC employees.
Three papers
The exam is conducted in two phases, prelim (phase1) and mains (phase11), followed by a medical examination of selected candidates. The prelim exam consists of three papers, namely, English/Hind language, numerical and reasoning ability. The reasoning and numerical aptitude consist of thirty-five questions, each with a total mark of thirty-five for each paper, and the English/Hindi question consists of thirty questions with a full mark of thirty. Negative marking
The main exam consists of general/ banking awareness, reasoning /computer aptitude, English/Hindi language, and quantitative aptitude. Total marks on each segment is forty, cumulative two hundred, forty questions for each paper totalling two hundred, time allotted for mains exam is one hundred fifty minutes. To qualify, you have to obtain the minimum mark on each segment. 1/4th mark will be subtracted for each erroneous answer.

Basic salary
You would be entitled to a basic salary of INR 14,435 per month along with other perks such as housing and dearness allowance. Gross salary tends to be around INR30 000 per month. After the successful application process and fee admission, the card would be delivered digitally for the prelim exam. If you crack phase I, admit card for the main exam will be provided. The merit list is published in downward order as per marks obtained in the main exam. Cut off mark for the assistant exam is declared by LIC recruiting board on a yearly basis. Qualifying marks for the prelim exam are twelve and fourteen for English/Hindi, numeric and reasoning ability, respectively, for the general/OBC/EWS category. For SC/ST/PwD, it stands at eleven and thirteen for English/Hindi, numeric and reasoning ability.
Probation period
The probation for LIC assistants is one year from the date of joining, which can extend up to two years. After completion of the probation period, you would be entitled to all privileges enjoyed by regular employees. HRA depends on the tier of the city where you are posted, which can range from 7 to 9%. DA is based on the CPI (Consumer Price Index), constituting 40% of basic pay.
